Taiwanese artist Tangent Lin at Galerie LJ in Paris

Young Taiwanese artist Tangent Lin uses the thinnest black ballpoint pens, which she drops on their heads for best effect. She uses old and fragile sketch paper, so her drawings become a tactile experience as well.
She exhibits at Galerie LJ's Paper Works exhibition until Oct19, 2013.

Tony Valentine - OECD, March19 - April19 2013

Together with Cariou Project, I am showing Tony Valentine at the OECD headquarters in Paris March 19th – April 19th, 2013.

Painter and sculptor, born in 1939 in Edinburgh, Tony Valentine graduated from the Edinburgh and Glasgow School of Fine Arts, moved to France in 1968, and is now living and working in Maintenon.
In a communion of spirit with Samuel Beckett, his large oil paintings on wood, drawings on paper, and wooden sculptures feature the all-encompassing female figure of Alice in Wonderland and the contemplative landscapes and volcanoes of his Scottish childhood, in a mix of obsession, desperation and humour.

He has exhibited with Cariou Project at the Cutlog art fair in Paris in 2010 and 2011, in Vichy in 2006 and 2008, at La Maison des Singuliers, Thomas Leguillou, the Salon du Dessin 2009 in Paris, in Guyancourt, Vesoul, Rouen, Chartre, Edinburgh, Sussex University, Glasgow, Dreux, at the Musée Rignault in St Cirq-Lapopie, Lyons, Besançon...

His works have been acquired by the public collections of the College of Fine Arts, the Scottish Arts Club, and the Collection Richard Demarco in Edinburgh, the Glasgow School of Fine Arts, in France the city halls of Vesoul and Guyancourt, the Musée des Musiques Populaires of Montluçon and the Musée Regnault of Saint Circ La Popye.

« I use the name of Alice as a constant reference to Alice in Wonderland, in the sense that what is really marvelous to my eyes is equally atrocious and unlivable. » - Tony Valentine

Artist Vicenta Valenciano at the OECD in Paris, January 8 - February 9 2013

The OECD kindly let me show Vicenta Valenciano's first solo exhibition in France, at their headquarters in Paris, January 8 - February 9, 2013.

Strongly influenced by philosopher Zygmunt Bauman, she has developed a new technique of liquid acrylic painting that exists without any support: "Liquid painting is born from the necessity to express the new characteristics of modern society: its capacity to adapt to constantly changing circumstances. Like men and women, it has lost any solid support and become flexible and adaptable."

Vicenta Valenciano's paintings have lost any solidity: no support, canvas, wood or paper. The work is free to adapt to any shape, or can just be hung on its own. The back of the painting is exposed, showing the initial drawing and the first brush strokes.

Born in 1970 in Mallorca, Vicenta Valenciano pursued her love for arts and mathematics by training as a Civil Engineer, then moved to Fine Arts and graduated from Central Saint Martins in London in 2005.

She has exhibited at Art Sunday and Sofía Gaspar Spanish Contemporary Art in Hong Kong, at the Jardín Luminoso in Buenos Aires.
